He's getting ready to drive off to Alaska where he'll be doing an artist residency within a very tiny town and giving northern light tours on the side when not snogging with eskimos (kidding) or photographing. I love how simple this little project is and the final result looks fab. Something I can produce in under an hour (which is attention span these days). Interior designer Bryn Alexandra shows how to make it happen. Great for photographers, designers, or even brides who want a dedicated place to pin down their wedding ideas.

Domino, I miss you so...

...but Lonny magazine is a close replacement. Close. They do a good job of listing their resources and have fun little projects anyone can do. There's a DIY on making a very pretty chandelier that would look great in a nursery.
The photography is OK but the styling is great. This cover shot irks me a bit...she should have been lying on the sofa or something...instead she looks uncomfortable on those hard tables and I can't stop looking at how she is curling her toes... Lonny, you should hire me. Really.

I can't stop looking and obsessing. I love the girl with the short dark hair! I want her haircut.

It has that Anthropologie feel, but the clothing is more...earthy + practical? Less foo-foo? Does that make sense? It's been a while since I found an inspiring catalog, but this one has just made my year. The way they cut from master shots to detail shots of the products is beautifully executed and the layout and design of the catalog is topnotch. Here's some treats: feast your eyes!!

Thank you Natalie and JJ for being such great models and letting us be a part of your celebration...you guys were so laid back and relaxed!
The whole wedding had a great vibe to it and you guys are so obviously very adored by all your friends and family. You guys have such good looking friends! I loved all the flowers blooming in the gardens and the evergreen glen was such a special little place.
I am so happy with the pictures....they have a dreamy, happy, fairytale quality to them and I think they are very much your style.
Braden and I wish you ALL THE BEST on your new adventures out west. Drop us note sometime and say hi when you get to San Fran!

I was completely blown away by these little prints.......I have been wanting to try my hand at art direction and these just inspired a whole fashion editorial spread in my head.....more to come later...baby is crying!
Okay Im back. So I've been working through some ideas in my head about a fashion editorial where it's a girl on a field trip in a field somewhere around here, collecting things. In the shots she is fully styled but we never see her entire face...only her lips. She can be holding a book up to her face, binoculars, a map, an old Polaroid camera with bellows, a butterfly net...you get the idea. Then for the accessory shots there'd be a pair of brightly colored patent heels in the butterfly net with butterflies around it, or in the field grass with feathers around them, or on open book of field bird study drawings or other animals. A cool pair of long leather gloves draped over a stump... Maybe a cool bag shot with her field journals, magnifying glass, specimen jars, etc... spilling out of it. Specimen jars with brightly colored jewelry in it......Wardrobe could possibly be supplied by Cabin Fever....or not? I would like to try to have the wardrobe be more modern / folk than western...but we'll see what she has to offer anyway.
The photography style is very editorial and etherial....lots of moody dreamy like soft colors and softly blending horizon lines and shapes...very limited focus.

Things I have already for this shoot:
Feather collection
Old Polaroid camera with bellows
Cool old binoculars
Field journals, vintage illustrated book Birds if Field and Forest

Layouts so far......Vintage blue tie jacket with modern highwasted and form fitting up top pants or something else ...stacked bracelets. Have binnoculars already.

Brightly colored, patent stacked wedge peep toes inside net, on round mossy stump top..netting could be colored. I only drew one shoe because Im lazy , it would be a pair of shoes..maybe style in the shape of a butterfly ?
Possibly one of Alyson Fox's wonderful pocket dresses in a neutral color...with a bright orange or pink net? Colorful flats with this dress. Butterflies on stump and one on her shoulder.
