The Weaver House {they're magic}

 Hannah and Kelty of The Weaver House
These two incredibly talented twins from Portland are going to be helping me give my brand and web presence a facelift this October.   I finally got up the courage to ask them, and they said yes!  Sorry if I sound like a 10 year old fan club girl.  It's exciting.
In my eyes they are the best in the business...everything they touch looks gorgeous.   I can't think of a better team for my job and I am so thrilled I get to get to work with them.
Check out all of their AMAZINGNESS here.

Design Sponge feature {Carla Caruso}

Posted on: Tuesday, September 11, 2012

 I was so thrilled when my talented friend Carla Caruso asked me to photograph her Design Sponge feature.  She has a cozy + eclectic little farmhouse in Ashfield that's filled with beautiful art, textiles, and really great color combos.  She has amazing plants about the house and usually there's something in her collections with a bit of sparkle or opalesence to it that catches my eye.  In the feature Carla shares her favorite artists, paint colors, and sources of inspiration.
Not only is she an awesome decorator, but she makes drool worthy jewelry as well.  She's making a gorgeous wedding band for me...  Check out the rest of her house and the article AND shop around her website!

Classic.

Apple orchards, tornadoes, and the perfect end of summer wedding {Zoe + Pat}

For Zoe + Pat..who DO have a Sunday kind of love.  Thank you for letting us be part of your day!
   Etta James - A Sunday Kind of Love by Kaku

A few from Zoe + Pat's wedding.  Congratulations to them!  They laughed and kissed in the field as the tornado clouds swirled around them and only when lighting struck did we all run indoors.  A super fun and lovely day and the weather only added to the atmosphere.  To add to the happiness of the day, their sweet puppy Zinnia, a German wire haired griffon, made a special guest appearance leaping onto the scene, donning a pearl choker necklace.
I'm just going to continue adding to these pics as the weeks go on, so make sure to check back for more pictures from their celebration.
Also,  a huge thank you to my super talented + delightfully preppy friend Brent Hale for shooting this one with me and doing a fantastic job. Always a treat to have him on board a project.

Berry picking + Mystical napping

Posted on: Saturday, September 1, 2012

Apparently eating too many raspberries makes you have crazy dreams about spirit animals.  After hours of picking them (and eating them) in the hot sun today I took what turned into a 3 hour nap when I got home.  It was a 10 on the nap scale, complete with a little drool.   Anyway, I rarely remember my dreams but this one was really visual and started with two deer scratching at my screen door wanting me to come to the house next door with them.  I was told by a group of strange men that the deer would always be with me and not to bother with the rabbit..whatever that means...They also told me Braden's sign was the cardinal.     Here's a mash-up of the dream meanings of the deer and cardinal;
Deer  (lure to adventures)
Move gently into new areas.  Follow the lure to new studies.  Practical pursuits bring surprising rewards.
Deer dreams are considered favorable and lucky to have. These can denote the pure character and several future elements. In ancient times, people used to believe them as messengers of fairies which are always connected with something positive or divine.
The deer as a totem serves as a bridge between the wild and the tame. This is because the deer will often be seen on the edges of the wilderness it calls home. Deers have acute senses, they are always on alert to keep themselves from harms way. Deer totem may appear when danger is lurking, it also serves as a reminder to be watchful and alert to potential harm.
And here's the cardinal's meaning:
To see Cardinal in dream time symbolizes brightness, joy, health and vitality. Through its brilliant red feathers, Cardinal guides us to awaken on a spiritual level. Thus, Cardinal's gift is one of transformation from intellectual thought to a true intuitive knowing. This shift is especially powerful when it comes to manifesting our intentions. Cardinal also reminds us to watch our diets and to employ self-respect, moderation and balance in all things.
Braden's interpretation: "It's the Ohio state bird, and we better be careful  and make sure our batteries are charged for tomorrow's wedding."
We picked about twelve pounds of berries.... can't wait to see what other dreams I have.

Film Swap // Double exposure // Mystery art

 I came across this fun little project on a photographer's blog the other day and I think it might be interesting to try.  Anyone interested?   I love the idea of it as an easy and fun fall project. I have lots of old rolls of film in my fridge:))
The diy instructions here:

Ode Fall 2012 // Fall is in the air

Posted on: Monday, August 27, 2012

I was totally excited to try Kristin Kelly's (Ode's owner + head stylist / buyer)  genius idea of using a  TRAMPOLINE as a way to add some fun movement into our shoot.  I ran out to Dick's Sporting Goods and got a mini one, stuffed it in my car, and on my way out grabbed some cat tails from swamp in the Target parking lot as a prop.  Perfect!
Well, it turns out jumping on a trampoline in heels is hard and it hurts your ankles.  We love Kate and didn't want her to be uncomfortable, so here she is in all her barefoot glory!  Jenessa Cintron did a beautiful and dramatic smokey eye and dark lip on Kate to help bring in the feeling of Fall.  I'm just about done wrapping this look book up and I'm super excited for Kristin and Ode to share it with you all.  That cool air is already creeping in at night and it's just about time for back to school and apple picking in the orchards...

Be passionate.

Arielle + Jesse // Ashfield Summer Wedding // sneak peek

Posted on: Thursday, August 23, 2012

Up next:   This Austin couple came back to their hometown for their super awesome and whimsical wedding. Kazoos, wild butterflies, vintage painted cowboy boots, shocking toasts..it was one for the books.  All at one of my FAVORITE local wedding venues, The Curtis House.  The cupcakes were so good I had to lay down after I ate one. Best cupcake of my life. My partner for the this wedding was the charming and talented Manuel Vazquez Lopez.  Manuel's specialty is food, product, and still life photography so this shoot was filled with amazing stills from him.
